Carbon Offsetting

There has been much discussion about the various carbon offsetting schemes that are available and we at M&C Energy Group believe that for those wishing to offset their emissions the approach taken needs to show demonstrable reductions in overall CO² released. This is why we only use Government approved schemes to offset our clients' carbon emissions with Kyoto-compliant credits.

Our schemes deal only in Certified Emissions Reductions or EU Allowances both of which are internationally verified carbon emissions units that give you the confidence and assurance that your organisation is making the positive environmental impact that you intended.

The offsets are generated in one of two ways:
We either invest on your behalf in Clean Development Mechanism Projects in industrialising countries to produce CER's, or EUA's are purchased under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, and then 'retired' the overall effect being that these credits are put beyond use and need to be replaced elsewhere by reductions in carbon dioxide emissions. The removal of the emissions from the market also stimulates further investment as the value of investing in projects to reduce CO² becomes more attractive to polluters.
