12 May 2010 CBRE Appoints M&C Energy Group as International Utilities Procurement Partner
M&C Energy Group is Europe's largest energy buying group and provides services in over 20 countries worldwide. The company helps organisations to save money and manage their environmental performance by scrutinising the complex energy and utilities markets, recovering over-payments and identifying ways of reducing energy costs. M&C Energy Group also buy energy in bulk at the best available market prices.
The partnership is an integral part of CBRE's rapidly growing energy and sustainability service offering which is becoming increasingly adopted by the company's corporate clients. Matt Rowe, Head of EMEA Energy Services at CBRE Richard Ellis, said:
"In the current economic climate, one of the principal areas of focus for companies' sustainability agendas is practical energy saving and carbon reduction solutions that deliver genuine cost-benefit advantages.
"We are already involved in sustainable strategies with many of our corporate clients. Access to M&C Energy Group's international utilities procurement capability represents a significant addition to our offering and will enable us to deliver important energy savings while simultaneously helping to reduce our clients' corporate impact on the environment."
CBRE client, AON, a leading provider of risk management and reinsurance services, has already made significant energy savings as a result of the partnership.
Todd Budgen, Director of Service at AON, said: "We are delighted with the purchasing strategy and results that CBRE and M&C Energy Group have already achieved - a 16% saving over our previous electricity contract. With customer service of the highest order, we have been consulted and informed throughout the process. Significant savings in bill validation and refunds were also identified generating further savings for AON."
M&C Energy Group's appointment followed a robust selection process. The consultancy was chosen for its unmatched coverage across EMEA and Asia Pacific, proven full-service capability and an independent and transparent offering that supports CBRE's own cultural values.
Terry Cogan, M&C Energy Group's Group Sales Director, added: "Energy is a huge overhead for large organisations and inefficiencies often go unnoticed. Last year M&C Energy Group recouped approximately £3 million on behalf of its clients due to incorrect billing alone. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with CBRE and help pass on notable energy savings to their international client base."
