FGA reduces the Environment Impact with M&C Energy Group

Established in 1998, FGA (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited, produces, in the main, aluminum and steel brackets for fan motors used in air-conditioners, with a capacity of 1,800,000 units per annum. These motors are supplied to Fujitsu General (Thailand) and are exported to China, Japan and Taiwan. Having been awarded the ISO 14001 certification covering the Fujitsu’s international consolidated subsidiaries, FGA gears towards the reduction of the environmental impact and the improvement of their environmental efficiency.

Complimenting FGA’s own initiatives, M&C Energy Group, a leading independent consultancy specialising in energy, water and telecoms, was appointed to work closely with the FGA team to monitor the usage and costs related to energy at their site in Laem Chabang Industrial Estate, Chonburi. Currently three recommendations have been implemented by M&C Energy Group. In total these measures will save 615,334 Baht for FGA per year. The cost saving measures relate to the following areas:

• Improvement of the compressed air system
• Improvement of the cooling water system by VSD (Variable Speed Drive)
• Improvement of the chiller system

Pongthep Chotijukdikul, M&C Energy Group’s Energy Service Engineer said, “The savings achieved have reduced the production cost per unit for FGA. Moreover, approximately 141 tonnes of carbon is no longer being emitted into the atmosphere. One of the areas that I love about my job is that every day I know that my work is helping the environment and in the case of FGA, quite significantly.”

Furthermore, Khun Suebphong Saengsiri, FGA (Thailand) Co., Ltd.’s Division Manager of Production Engineering & Quality Assurance Division said, “We aim to be the leader in manufacturing fan motors as well as to be environmentally sensitive. Therefore, our operation and management must be efficient in every way as to build competitive advantage and make less impact on the environment. In contracting M&C Energy Group, we want to make sure that the back office runs smoothly and efficiently while we can focus on what we can do best. The M&C Energy Group team have not failed me in providing such innovative solutions.”
